For transportation information or to schedule a ride,
 call MASS at 1-815-539-7700

When possible, please call the MASS office at least 24 hours in advance to schedule a ride. This will allow you a better chance to secure the time needed. A donation is suggested for this service, and no one age 60 or over will be refused a ride due to inability to pay.

MASS does offer special transportation trips with volunteer drivers, available to seniors 60 years or older for these ‘out-of-area’ medical appointments Monday through Friday.*

*There is a suggested donation for this service and it is advisable to call at least a week in advance to schedule a volunteer driver.

Transportation Certificates
MASS has punch tickets available for our transportation services. If you are looking for a gift for someone special, this would be a great choice. Contact the MASS office at 815-539-7700 for more information.
*The cost of a 12 stop in town ticket for ambulatory clients is only $20.

Regularly Scheduled Van Transportation

Free hearing screenings are conducted at the Mendota Civic Center every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month. Hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Hearing aid batteries are available at the MASS office. Batteries are $6.95 for a pack of six. Used batteries are collected as well as the old fashioned “over the ear” hearing aids which are refurbished and given to clients who are unable to afford new ones. These items can also be dropped off at MASS.

MASS Potlucks
Coffee With a Cop
MASS is hosting Coffee with a Cop quarterly instead of monthly. This is your chance to sit down 1 on 1 with Chief Smith and discuss concerns or issues that are important to you. In a relaxed and neutral area, it is a personal conversation that is as important to the officer as it is to you. Chief Smith will join us soon. (Date will be announced when we receive it.) Stop in for a cup of coffee, a snack and your chance to talk with Mendota Police.
Driver's Review Course
MASS is offering a Rules of the Road  Driver’s Review Course on Monday, October 29, 2018  in the Feik Senior Parlor at the Mendota Civic Center beginning at 9:30 AM. The course is free to everyone of any age. This course is designed to assist participants in preparing for the driving examination. Please call 815-539-7700 to register.
This is the final class of 2018. Watch for the 2019 schedule in our next newsletter.

We invite you to join us for our monthly potlucks. The potluck times are listed below. Please bring your table service and a dish to pass. MASS supplies the meat dish and drinks. Remember, if you don’t have time to make a dish to pass you can always put a donation in the basket.
Friday, October 26th ~ Noon

Movie Matinees at Graves Hume Library
MASS is partnering with Graves Hume Public Library in Mendota to offer you free Movies! The movie matinee is offered on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 3:00 PM at the Library.  Refreshments will be provided. Upcoming movies are:

Wednesday, October 24th – ‘Return to Me’ starring David Duchovney and Minnie Driver. Heartbroken after his wife's death in a car accident, Bob agrees to go on a blind date set up by his friend Charlie. Though the date fizzles, sparks fly between Bob and the waitress, Grace, a recovered heart transplant patient.

Community Bingo

Are You Looking for Fun in All the Wrong Places?

Then come to MASS and join a Wii Bowling Team! Tuesday, August 28th at 1:30 PM we will be picking teams for the Wii Bowling League that will begin on September 4th. We are hopeful that along with our MASS teams there will be participating teams from Mendota Lutheran Home, Mendota Heritage Health, Stonecroft Retirement Village, and William Way Senior Apartments. Sign up to join a team and find fun in ALL the right places! If you would like to be on a team and are new to Wii Bowling, contact Leesa at MASS and she will set up practice times for you!

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THIS FALL!

A representative from the LaSalle County VAC will be at MASS the second Wednesday of every month to assist veterans with any issues they may have. They will be available from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM.
